PBIS IN ARKANSAS

The mission of the Center for Community Engagement (CCE) is to work with organizations to develop, implement, and sustain programs that benefit the community. We work with an extended community. Our goal is to help provide for the intersecting needs of Arkansas State University and local, regional, state, and national organizations. Currently, the CCE is the state’s only technical assistance center for PBIS. CCE is a main partner in the Arkansas State Personnel Development Grant (see below), with the role of providing training and support to targeted schools in the implementation of PBIS.

Currently, there are at least 33 districts with 107 individual schools in Arkansas that are implementing PBIS.

The Arkansas State Personnel Development Grant (SPDG) is a grant that was awarded to the Arkansas Dept. of Education (ADE) in October of 2015. From the AR SPDG website: “The SPDG will directly support the ADE State Systemic Improvement Plan targeted districts and build upon the Response-to-Intervention (RTI) Arkansas initiative, which is a multi-component, general education model designed to identify students who may be at risk academically or behaviorally, offer support, and monitor progress. The five-year grant will be used to develop RTI literacy and behavior resources and tools, including professional development and technical assistance, that educational cooperatives, districts, and schools can utilize to assist all students, especially students with disabilities.”
